3/3/06 TIG welding

Last weekend and most of today I have been practicing my TIG welding. It's coming along OK. I have ordered a foot operated remote control for the welder to make life easier. I have had an order come in from the US this week, which was mostly fueling components. Here is a pic of some of them.

That we have here are two low pressure pumps, one high pressure pump, two 100 micron filters, one 10 micron filter, a Y block and the fuel regulator.

Also in the order was a new distributor, coil, timing cover, and offset valve locks.

Yesterday I was at the engine machinist to drop off some parts that require balancing with the crank. This included the supercharger front pulley and the clutch cover plate. I am looking at the possiblity of having an extra keyway cut into the crank at 180° at 1/4" wide. This will help with the loads transmitted from the crank to the vibration damper and then to the supercharger pulley.

This weekend I will try to make a cardboard template for the bulkhead panel. I will also be cleaning the gearbox ready for painting. The engine and box are going to be painted yellow to match the car.

12/03/06 EFI system

I finally got my hands on the EFI system on Friday. Here are a few of pics.

As you can see in the pic above there is a lot of wiring to do. This is not all of it either as there is the traction control, pump speed controller and knock control to add. The three Holley boxes above  from the top down are, the wide band AFR sensor controller, the main ECU controlling fuel and ignition and the injector driver unit for low impedance injectors. The red MSD box is to give the ignition multiple high energy sparks.

One of the fuel rails will be replaced as the supplied system has the regulator fixed into the rail. I will be using a remote regulator seen the the pic of the fuel components. New rail on order.

I have ordered a new crankshaft from Eagle with two 3/16" keyways cut in it, for the reason I described above. I have also ordered the matching ATI crank damper with the two 3/16" keyways. Also on order is a new 140amp alternator to cope the all the extra electronics I'm adding.

My new radiator and other cooling components are now ready for collection from Pace Products. I'll collect them within the next couple of weeks.

I hope to take some time of soon to get the project moving at a quicker pace.
