LAST FEW JOBS BEFORE THE MOT

I'm on the last leg now. I hope to get the MOT done on the car next week. I've been a bit busy the last couple of weeks. I went on a trip to Abu Adhabi in the UAE the week before last. It was a four day visit to do some work in a couple of Hospitals out there. Last week was spent on the car so I have managed to get quite a few things done. The car is running again now. The new fuel pumps are in and working. I have re-wired them though relays. Some other wiring jobs have also benn done. The ECU now controls the cooling fans, but I still have manual control also. The Pollak valve is also wired in and working. I have also made and fitted a thermostat to control the fans in the electronics panel. I have it set to come on at 30°C.

Below is a pic of the new additional relays. The two on the left are for the new fuel pumps. The Pollak valve relay is inside the box and is a DPDT type. It will reverse the polarity to the valve to switch it from left to right fuel tank return. The button controlling it is a push to lock type switch. Above the switch is an indicator with a bi-coloured LED inside which turns red for left and green for right (port and starboard).

The airfilter is now in its correct position. I have made and fitted a bracket to hold it steady. The carbon side pod has required a but of cutting on the inside to get the filter positioned correctly.

The new electric water pump has been wired in and is working fine. The supercharger belt is well clear of the pump.

I am in the process of making and fitting heat shields to fit around the intake tubes. The pic below is of the shields. Just remains to make brakets and fit them.

The pic below is a view down the intake tube to the supercharger. You can see the CNC cut blades inside. They are very sharp.

The pic below is a view of how things are looking now.

I have fitted some blue LEDs inside the speedo and rev counter to match the new blue LED lit gauges.

I forgot to add this pic looking into the side pod at the air filter. So here it is!

MOT DAY HAS ARRIVED

I got up at 5.30am this morning trying to finish off the last few jobs before the MOT which was booked for 12.30pm. I have had to play around with the induction tubes so that I could get the rear clip closed over the engine. I took all four wheels off and cleaned them on the inside. While they were off I cleaned the suspension at each corner. I put both the seats and harneses in last night. I also fitted the carbon fibre cover to the electronics panel. At just after 11am I was ready to go.

In the pic below I have driven the car onto the trailer to take it the 36 miles to the MOT test centre. I took the car to be tested at an independant TVR specialist as I thought they would be more understanding and more careful with my car.

The pic below shows the engine bay finished for the MOT and ready for the rear clip to be fitted.

GOOD NEWS!

The car passed the MOT with flying colours. The reason I took in on the trailer was the distance and I have not finished the mapping yet. Also there are speed bumps near the MOT test centre and my low car does not like them.

Although its now road legal its not quite ready for the road yet. I still need to fit the heat shields around the induction tubes. I also want to reinforce the rear clip in the area where I cut out for the supercharger. It seems there is a weak point in the fibreglass near a bump stop and I don't want any stress cracks forming. I will collect some fibreglass products on Saturday and carry out the remedial work on Sunday.

I have booked the car in for a rolling road session on Saturday the 28th April.

I will be driving the car the Stoneleigh Kit Car Show on Sunday the 6th May. It will be parked with the all the other Ultimas. Please feel free to come and say hello and have a look at the car.

More updates soon!
