GETTING READY FOR THE M.O.T.
I'm trying to finish of all the jobs needed for the M.O.T. which I hope to get done next month. The new headlamp covers have been finished and fitted.
The pic below shows one of the new covers ready to be fitted. The black border around the cover is a etch primer/paint and hides the sealant used to fix it in place.

The pic below shows thw headlamp area cleaned ready for the primer. It took an hour to clean off the old sealant.

The pic below shows the area masked for the primer to be applied.

In the pic below the primer has been applied.

The pic below shows one of the new covers fitted.

A pic of both covers fitted.

The new indicators I have will be fitted after the M.O.T. as I have to turn some spacers on the lathe.
The car is booked in for its first rolling road session on the 27th Jan.
More updates soon.

MAKING A SENSOR ADAPTER
Well modifing one to be more to the point. I am fitting a coolant sensor in the chargecooler circuit just before the pump. This is so I can monitor the efficiency of the system. I couldn't find one the correct size so I bought one and modified it.
In the pic below the left hand adapter is how the part one on the right started. I cut off the two hose connections top and bottom and then cleaned the centre section in the lathe. I then made two adapters to fit into the centre section at the size I needed, which is 19mm. The original one was 25mm. The parts then needed welding together.

In the pic below I have welded all three parts together. The adapter is made of aluminium, so it was welded with my TIG set using the A/C setting which is needed for welding aluminium.

In the pic below the weld has been polished.

The pic below shows the finished article ready for fitting. The hole is tapped with an 1/8th NPT thread for the coolant senor.

This weekend I need to get the throttle cable fitted and the throttle return springs. This means making bespoke brackets and parts to get them to fit. I have worked out what I need to do. Just need to get on and make them.
I will be collecting the new car trailer on Tuesday next week. I'll be using the trailer to take the car to the rolling road next Saturday. The main reason being is that I can leave the rear clip (bodywork) in the garage.
I've still got lots of small jobs to do so I need to get busy. I'm still looking to have the car back on the road next month. After which there will still be a few jobs to do like fitting the full windscreen and wiper.
More updates soon.
