The rear clip was removed yesterday to allow the removal of the engine. The exhausts and drive shafts were also removed.

I love that view above of the car with no rear cover.

Today was spent cutting out more of the bulkhead to allow room for the supercharger drive pulley and drive belt. This needed to be done before the engine is removed so I could see exactly how much to remove. The glassfibre area removed will be filled in with an aluminium panel once the engine is removed. The engine and gearbox should be out be friday 23rd Dec.

The rear clip is in its home for the next few months. I'll be pushing the car in and out if the weather is fine. There is plenty of room in the garage though. It looks short in the picture above, but its 27feet deep by 15feet wide. There is too much clutter at the back. Need to do some sorting.

The engine and transaxle are now out of the car as pictured below.

The engine bay is now empty ready for modifications and the new engine.

In the photo above the area circled in red was the cut out made for the supercharger drive pulley. The area in light blue is the area that will be cut out and replaced with a recessed aluminium panel to allow room for the drive belt.

I have started to strip the engine, and was not impressed to find a cylinder head bolt that had been rounded off. After trying different sockets including the flat drive type I had to resort to hammering on an old 12mm socket but unfortunately that split so I then hammered on a 12mm impact socket which managed to do the job. I have many different extractor sockets but none of them would fit due to the close proximity to the valve springs.

The engine was an American Speed engine, so this does not say much for there engine building practices.

The engine stripdown continues!
